Why should I work with a landscape
architect? Our business is your
garden. Thinking about how gardens
changes over the four seasons, how
pleasing it looks now and in the future,
how well it functions and how it is
built are the basis of our work. But
having good ideas is not enough. We
are trained and practiced in putting
these ideas into clear plans you can
see and understand, in the end increasing
your comfort level, saving you time,
energy and money. I like to say, "good
plans lead to great gardens".
What do I look for in hiring a
landscape designer? A good relationship
is most important. Primarily, someone
you can trust, who has expertise and
experience with residential work,
who listens to your needs and builds
on those needs with innovative design.
What will it cost Design and construction
costs naturally, depending on the
size and complexity of the project.
Most landscape designers charge between
$75-$150 per hour. My rate is $100
per hour and the minimum project fee
of $2000.
What if I do not like what is
suggested? Design is a collaborative
process and is important to share
when you do not understand or like
something. Often the designer will
suggest something based on their past
experience or because of the relationship
between parts of the design, which
will make more sense when explained.
When this does not work revisiting
the needs and revisions occurs. Most
designs require at least one revision
and nothing is written in stone at
the design stage.
What happens when the design is
completed? Once the design is
completed final costing can be planned
and work organized into a series of
logical phases, if needed. The planned
work is schedlued with our build team,
a start date is selected and any required
permits and permission will be aquired
on your behalf.
